If you haven’t had to shop for catering before, it can be confusing especially knowing what a big role it plays in your day. Understanding what services come with catering often causes the most confusion and makes the biggest difference in pricing. Always ask the caterer and your CCF Coordinator to explain their services to you and that it’s clearly laid out in your contract with them.
Full-Service Catering: Not all catering/food service options are Full-Service. Full-Service means that they will have staff at the event to not only serve food but also bus tables, clear away the buffet after dinner, and take out the trash when the event is complete. Their services can also include handling any rental orders and even folding napkins for you. Be sure to clarify what services they are providing.
Self-Service Catering: This style of catering means that they provide the food, but the rest of the work is up to you. This also includes drop-and-go catering (they deliver and that’s where the service ends), food trucks, or making your own food. Please remember that you are responsible for bussing tables, clearing away all leftover food (buffet, plates, etc.), cleaning the kitchen, and trash removal by 1am. We also do not provide any catering equipment, serving utensils, or to-go containers.
Please Note:
NO CATERER/PERSON CAN COOK HERE. We do NOT have a cooking kitchen, only a prep kitchen.
If your caterer has not been to Canopy Creek before and has questions, they can email us at Info@CanopyCreekFarm.com or to your CCF Coordinator.
Also, do not forget to send them a copy of the Renter’s Checklist so they know how to leave the kitchen at the end of the event.
At Canopy Creek Farm, you are welcome to select whatever catering/food service option you would like for your event!
However, after many years in the event business and seeing different caterers, restaurants, etc. in action, these are the food service companies that consistently provide quality food, good service, and affordable options along with a variety of upgrades, if desired.
Traditional Caterers (they provide the food and service unless noted):

Self-Service Caterers (they provide the food, but you do the work i.e., setting up the buffet, supplying warmers and serving utensils, bussing tables, end of night clean-up):
Many restaurants like Bravo, Qdoba, Chipotle, and Chic-fil-A offer self-service catering, but be sure they can handle your guest count and remember that you have to provide warmers, serving utensils, plates, silverware, etc. Some of these restaurants offer delivery and others do not so be sure you understand how the food is getting to the venue.
Food Trucks (they provide the food, but you do the clean-up):
Bella Sorella Pizza Truck - bellasorellapizza@gmail.com | 937-503-3482
Hunger Payne’s Food Truck - hugerpaynes937@gmail.com | 937-815-1757
Zombie Dogz - zombiedogzdayton@gmail.com
Graeter’s Ice Cream Truck - 513-762-3020
Food trucks make for a fun late-night snack or treat, but often many can’t keep up with serving 250 guests all at once in a timely fashion. There are a lot of food trucks out there. We suggest going to Dayton Food Trucks on Facebook if you’re looking for something specific like Greek, Thai, etc. Be sure to ask if they can handle the volume service necessary for weddings.
Here are some of the bartenders that have worked well at Canopy Creek. Don’t forget that many of our caterers will allow you to provide your own alcohol, and you just pay for their bartenders. It can save you some extra planning to just have your caterer bartend!
First Call Bartending - 513-264-9819
Bourbon Street Bartending - 513-604-1512
Debbie Goldberg Bartending - 937-267-6682

*Don’t forget to pack your cake cutting knife and server! It’s often forgotten! Your CCF Coordinator does not cut cake; however, most caterers will if you let them know in your final details meeting with them.
